Job Summary

The Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to support the overall goals of Morongo Casino Resort & Spa (MCRS). This role oversees all aspects of marketing, including player development, promotions, advertising, loyalty programs, and creative services. The Director ensures that marketing initiatives align with business objectives, enhance brand awareness, and drive customer engagement while managing budgets, evaluating performance, and adapting strategies to market trends and competitive activity.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual marketing plan to drive market share, guest engagement, and profitability.
  • Oversee research efforts to gather data and insights that optimize database marketing, advertising, and promotional initiatives.
  • Plan and manage advertising and promotional campaigns across multiple channels, including print, digital, direct mail, and electronic media.
  • Monitor and evaluate marketing programs, adjusting strategies as needed to respond to competitive dynamics and market conditions.
  • Oversee the development and execution of player development programs, promotions, and loyalty initiatives to enhance guest retention and acquisition.
  • Manage relationships with internal teams and external agencies to ensure consistent brand messaging and effective marketing execution.
  • Develop and control departmental budgets, ensuring that marketing activities are cost-effective and aligned with financial objectives.
  • Analyze marketing performance metrics to measure effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all gaming regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the casino industry with expertise in advertising, promotions, special events, direct mail, and player tracking.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketing strategies that drive customer engagement and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop marketing professionals.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and adjust marketing strategies accordingly.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics, and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong business acumen with a strategic mindset and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Proficiency in PC-based software programs, including database management and marketing analytics tools.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to engage with guests and stakeholders diplomatically.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of marketing experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial role within the casino industry.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Exceptional reading, writing and public speaking skills are important to the successful conduct of this position.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports, general business periodicals, professional journals or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, rates, ratio, proportions and percentages. 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to apply legal, regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts and policy to practical situations. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  The team member is occasionally required to sit. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  This is a fast paced work environment and the position requires the ability to cope with it. The casino environment has moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment. 

 

WORKING HOURS:

Because we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most positions require flexibility in scheduling and may require team members be available for evenings, weekends, holidays and special events. A typical workweek and normal work schedules may vary based on business needs and may include scheduled shifts Monday through Sunday. Position may require overtime.
