Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily, monthly, and year-end accounting processes at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This role performs financial analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, and tax submissions while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. The Staff Accountant contributes to timely financial reporting and supports various audits and compliance efforts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepares and transmits semi-weekly tax deposits, including 945, 1042, 941, EDD, and other filings.
  • Prepares daily revenue summaries and reconciles associated bank statements.
  • Maintains fixed asset records through research, data entry, and tracking.
  • Analyzes and completes monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts.
  • Conducts hotel revenue audits and manages hotel accounts receivable records.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Provides accurate and timely financial reports and summaries to management.
  • Reconciles bank and credit card statements.
  • Supports end-of-month and year-end closing processes.
  • Assists in preparing and transmitting various tax filings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working with accounting software, databases, and mainframe systems in a Windows environment.
  • Familiarity with federal and state tax regulations and filings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to guest service and team member relations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and goal-oriented environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in general accounting, financial reporting, or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting audits.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, UKG Pro, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in a high-volume environment; hospitality or gaming industry experience is a plus.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus while reviewing data and documents.
  • Working Conditions: Regularly works in both office and casino environments, with exposure to moderate to high noise levels and a smoking environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

                                   

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
