Job Summary

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting the payroll process by accurately maintaining payroll records, processing wage and tax information, and preparing manual checks as needed. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and compliant payroll processing for all team members while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive payroll data.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Calculate and post wage-related data, including hours worked, tips, benefits, and deductions, to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain and update payroll records and files for all team members in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in compiling and submitting monthly and quarterly tax information for Federal and State.
  • Prepare and process manual payroll checks with proper authorization when necessary.
  • Complete verifications and payroll-related documentation requested by authorized agencies.
  • Review and reconcile weekly timesheets and payroll reports.
  • Processes tip/tokes, personal and vacation requests.
  • Verify W-2 forms for all team members prior to distribution.
  • Ensure payroll processing aligns with all legal and organizational guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential payroll information with discretion.
  • Proficient in high-volume payroll systems, including documentation and processing procedures.
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, federal and state tax laws, and general accounting concepts.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets, databases, and mainframe applications in a Windows environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex data and perform accurate calculations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff and external agencies.
  • High degree of integrity, ethics, and commitment to excellent service.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative support.
  • Basic understanding of payroll processing, timekeeping systems, and relevant labor laws.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS/ERP systems (e.g., UKG Pro, Oracle, SAP, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll data.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as hospitality or gaming is a plus.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus while reviewing data and documents.
  • Working Conditions: Regularly works in both office and casino environments, with exposure to moderate to high noise levels and a smoking environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

                                   

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
