Job Summary

The Content Specialist – SMS/APP is responsible for the development, scheduling, and optimization of Morongo Casino Resort & Spa’s SMS text messaging campaigns and mobile app content. This role supports digital marketing initiatives by delivering timely, targeted, and engaging communications to guests. The Specialist ensures that all messaging aligns with brand standards, complies with regulatory guidelines, and contributes to guest engagement, retention, and revenue growth.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Creates, schedules, and deploys SMS campaigns and mobile app notifications that support promotions, events, and guest communications.
  • Manages and updates mobile app content, including graphics, push notifications, and in-app messaging.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate content, promotions, and special offers.
  • Builds and manages audience segmentation for targeted SMS campaigns and app communications.
  • Conducts A/B testing of SMS copy, push notifications, and app layouts to improve engagement rates.
  • Utilizes analytics tools to monitor performance, track guest interactions, and generate reports on ROI.
  • Ensures compliance with mobile communication regulations (e.g., TCPA, CTIA guidelines) and internal data privacy standards.
  • Coordinates messaging calendars to align SMS and app notifications with overall marketing campaigns.
  • Stays current on SMS and mobile app marketing trends, emerging technologies, and guest engagement strategies.
  • Upholds brand consistency and integrity across all mobile communication platforms.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with SMS marketing platforms (e.g., Twilio, Attentive, EZ Texting) and mobile app management systems.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements for SMS marketing and guest data privacy.
  • Experience with push notification management and in-app content updates.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools for tracking campaign performance and guest behavior.
  • Ability to write concise, compelling, and engaging copy suitable for SMS and push notifications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools to create graphics and visual assets for app content preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in guest communications.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and guest service orientation.
  • Prior experience in casino, resort, or hospitality digital marketing is preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field required.
  • Certifications in digital marketing, email marketing, or content strategy are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in content creation, email marketing, or digital communications.
  • Strong knowledge of SMS marketing best practices, compliance, and regulations (e.g., TCPA, CTIA).
  • Experience with mobile engagement platforms, push notification tools, and/or app content management systems.
  • Proficiency in writing concise, engaging, and action-driven copy optimized for mobile devices.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and campaign optimization strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs such as open rates, engagement, and conversions.
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Stationary Work: Frequently remains seated for extended periods while managing SMS platforms, app content, and campaign reporting.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of SMS management systems, mobile app platforms, analytics tools, and standard office equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent attention to detail to proof SMS copy, test push notifications, and review mobile content for accuracy and compliance.
  • Working Conditions: Primarily operates in an office or creative environment; may occasionally work in guest-facing or promotional areas for content coordination; exposure to moderate noise levels and a smoking environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

                                   

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
